Economically poor but culturally rich, dilapidated but with dazzling architecture, Cuba is both strangely exhilarating and exasperating.
The subtleties of this island are the result of its history: an exciting saga marked by Spanish colonisation, slavery, independence, the creation of a republic and a Revolution. Halfway between the United States to the north and Latin America to the south, the archipelago has long been struggling to find its place.
